As a longtime artist and teacher,Sister Corita’s “10 Enduring Rules for the Creative Life” have been intimate guides for me in my teaching and studio work.

While I’ve never been a follower or lover of rules, I find myself (and my students) willing to abide by the 10+ set forth by Corita due to their limitlessness. Her rules impose no restrictions on our bodies or spirits, but instead have a way of freeing us from limitations by making space for our humanness. They have encouraged exploration, curiosity, and experimentation both inside and outside the classroom, and have moved us to remember to only take one step at a time. May they do the same for you in a world that seems to demand from us everything at once.

“Always Be a Beginner” measures 8″ x 10″ matted, and has been hand-drawn, hand-carved, hand-printed, and hand-colored. It is printed on smooth Kitakata paper using Black light-fast vegetable-oil based ink and Prismacolor markers. While this print goes exceptionally well in a classroom space and makes a great gift for the teacher in your life, it is intended for all lovers of making and learning alike.
