Inspired by a Lou Reed song by the same name, I created “Dirty Blvd.” as a battle cry for justice. If you too have been feeling especially tired, hungry, and poor lately, this is just the print for you. May it inspire you to continue fighting for a liberated future, in which all of our brothers and sisters are fed, cared for, clothed, and housed.

Measuring 5″ x 7″ matted, “Dirty Blvd.” was pressed using a hand-carved block of linoleum. It was printed using a special technique called chine-collé. After carefully cutting out my desired shapes from tissue paper, I roll ink onto my block of linoleum. I then brush a small amount of rice paste on the backside of each shape and place them atop my block in the desired location paste-side up. Once each of the pieces of  mulberry paper are atop my block, I carefully place a new sheet of paper to hand-press the print. This print, in particular, was pressed onto an eco-friendly paper handmade in Nepal from the fiber of the Lokta Bush using Black light-fast vegetable-oil based ink.
