Description
Title: “How to be a Poet”
Materials: Undyed Mulberry Paper, Ink
Dimensions: 8″ x 10″ matted
Description: Hand-drawn, hand-carved, hand-printed, and hand-colored linocut
Fun Fact: This print was made in honor of one of my favorite poems, Wendell Berry’s How to be a Poet. Interestingly enough, it’s not about how to be a poet so much as it is about how to be a human being. (To remind myself and us):
iii
Accept what comes from silence.
Make the best you can of it.
Of the little words that come
out of the silence, like prayers
prayed back to the one who prays,
make a poem that does not disturb
the silence from which it came.
