Title: “The Pheasant Next Door”
Materials: Paper, Ink
Dimensions: 5″ x 7″ matted
Description: Hand-drawn, hand-carved, hand-printed, and hand-colored linocut
One cool thing about my neighborhood is that despite being surrounded on all sides by Detroit, we still somehow have pheasants (and coyotes!) roaming freely through our streets and alleys. I like to think of nature as the original printmaker, and nowhere is that more apparent than the iridescent copper-and-gold plumage of the pheasant. Known to remain hidden in brush for days at a time, the neighborhood pheasants and my hopeful anticipation of their beauty, have sharpened my vision. I hope this print serves the same function for you. Sometimes, in holding our gaze still on the natural environments that surround us, we’re able to see the flowers hidden by shadows and the pheasants hidden by weeds.
“The Pheasant Next Door” has been hand-drawn, carved, pressed, and colored by me on natural Lokta paper using a light-fast Black vegetable-oil based ink and an assortment of archival, light-fast markers. Arriving in your mailbox matted and ready to frame or gift to the birder in your life, this print measures 5″ x 7″ in total size.
Please note: All orders are dispatched within 1-3 working days, protected in a cellophane sleeve and posted in a board-backed envelope. If you intend your purchase to be a gift, just say the word! Gift-giving is one of my primary love-languages, so it warms my heart to help facilitate that process for others.
